British rock band formed in 2002 in High Green, a suburb of Sheffield. Currently consists of vocalist and guitarist Alex Turner, guitarist Jamie Cook, drummer Matt Helders and bass guitarist Nick O'Malley.

The band's music falls into the indie rock genre, although the musical style has changed with each new album, which is one of the key features of the band. The band's music expanded and changed its sound in each of the six albums, which makes it difficult to determine which exact style the band's compositions belong to. A key part of all the band's music is vocals: complex and often quickly pronounced lyrics.
